Start with the right specification
Laminate, timber and specialist composite or stone surfaces do not share one fitting method. We establish what you have ordered, who is supplying it and which parts of the work Cambridge Kitchen Solutions will complete. Laminate and suitable timber worktops can be fitted as agreed; quartz, granite and other specialist surfaces may require a separate templating and fabrication team. That responsibility is made clear before work begins.
Setting out the surfaces
The cabinet installation provides the reference for the finished worktop. We consider the front overhang, the wall line, support at joints and any peninsula or seating area. Joint positions also need to work with the sink, hob and cabinet layout. Long lengths need a sensible delivery route and working space; access restrictions are better dealt with during planning than with a worktop waiting at the door.
Openings and moisture protection
Sink and hob openings are checked against the actual product information before cutting. Exposed core material and vulnerable junctions are protected using products and methods suitable for that surface. There is no universal sealant or joint treatment that suits every material. Where a fabricator makes the openings off site, we coordinate the dimensions and sequence rather than attempting specialist work on an unsuitable surface.
Finishing and looking after the result
Upstands, visible ends and the junction with the wall complete the fitting. We check that the finish is appropriate to the material and discuss any curing or care instructions supplied with it. Keep the product guidance for future cleaning and maintenance, use suitable protection for hot pans and cutting, and report a damaged joint or seal promptly rather than allowing water to reach the cabinetry beneath.

Can I supply my own worktops?
Yes. Share the material, dimensions and product details so fitting or specialist coordination can be included in the quote.
Who deals with stone templating?
The specialist fabricator carries out its own templating and fabrication. We agree how that visit fits around the cabinet installation and the remaining work.
Can matching upstands be included?
Yes, where specified in your installation scope. We check their thickness, height and junctions with sockets, windows and splashbacks before fitting.
Can you help me choose a compatible worktop?
Send us the product specification before ordering. We can discuss installation practicalities, including joints and appliance openings. You purchase the worktop from your chosen supplier; specialist surfaces need their own fabrication arrangements.
What stops water getting into a worktop joint?
The fitting method must suit the material. Joints and exposed cutout edges receive the specified protection, with appropriate seals at adjoining surfaces. Laminate faces are not sanded to disguise a poorly fitting joint.
