Snagging and final adjustments

Snagging is the deliberate final inspection that turns a fitted collection of components into a finished kitchen. We check the work, make the remaining adjustments and walk through the result with you.

Why the final inspection matters

A kitchen is assembled in stages, and a detail set earlier may need another look once the surrounding work is complete. The snagging review gives the finished installation a dedicated check rather than assuming that every component is still correct because it was checked when fitted. Cambridge Kitchen Solutions treats this as part of completing the installation, with attention to how the room looks and how the fittings behave in use.

What we check around the room

We inspect the lines of the doors and drawers, look at the gaps around fronts and check that neighbouring surfaces sit appropriately together. Doors and drawers are opened and closed to identify catching, rubbing or incomplete closing. Soft-close operation is tested where fitted. Handles and exposed fittings are checked for security. We also review the visible trims, plinths, filler panels and worktop junctions, making the adjustments that fall within our agreed fitting work.

Seals, finishing and leaving things tidy

Junctions around sinks, worktops and splashbacks are reviewed for the sealing detail required by their materials and installation instructions. The aim is an appropriate, tidy finish at vulnerable edges, rather than applying silicone indiscriminately to every gap. We deal with fitting debris and leave the work area tidy, with waste removal handled as agreed in the quotation. Connections, testing or finishing allocated to other trades are coordinated and clearly identified.

Walking through the kitchen with you

Handover is a chance to look around together, demonstrate useful features and explain any product care or adjustment guidance. If something remains outstanding—such as a supplier replacement, a specialist surface visit or another agreed item—we record it and explain who will complete it. You should leave that conversation knowing what has been finished and what happens next. If you notice an installation concern afterwards, contact us with the details and photographs so we can assess it and agree the appropriate response.

Your questions, answered

Is snagging part of fitting the kitchen?

Yes. The final inspection and fitting adjustments are part of completing our installation work, not a cosmetic add-on.

What if a replacement part has not arrived?

We identify the outstanding part and agree the completion arrangements. The kitchen is not described as fully finished while an agreed item is still unresolved.

What should I do if I spot something after handover?

Contact Cambridge Kitchen Solutions with a description and photographs. We will discuss what is happening and agree the next step, distinguishing fitting adjustments from product faults or maintenance.

Can you assess a kitchen installed by somebody else?

Send photographs and a list of concerns. We can discuss whether the work is suitable for us to assess and quote separately; some problems require supplier parts or more extensive remedial work.

How long should the final checks take?

The kitchen size and any adjustments determine the time needed. We allow for this stage in the programme, record outstanding items and agree completion arrangements rather than rushing through a fixed checklist.
